Members of Monroe-based American Legion Post 488 led a flag ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 7, at the Barnett Hills Condominium complex, marking the installation of a new flagpole as part of its Veterans Day commemoration events.
The ceremony, led by Post 488 Past Commander Marty Currid, included a color guard, music, reading of poems, an explanation of the MIA flag and the singing of “You’re a Grand Old Flag.”
Barbara Pokorny, president of the Barnett Hills Condominium Homeowners Association, led guests in the Pledge of Allegiance.
“This is a wonderful occasion,” Pokorny said. “We are very grateful to the American Legion Post 488 for helping us to dedicate our flag pole. It certainly adds beauty to our grounds.”
