After sweeping rain storms across the Hudson Valley postponed the Monroe Fireworks twice over the previous weekend, locals were finally able to gather along the Millponds for the annual festivities last Saturday.
The Georgia 5 Band kicked off the party as vendors and food trucks lined Lake Street prior to the display.
The crowd was thick, the lawn surrounding the ponds were covered with groups of people - young, old and in between.
As the sun set and the crowd waited for the show to start - people danced along to the band. When the music ended, cheering erupted as the first fireworks illuminated the sky with brilliant colors.
As the firework show concluded, the thunder began to roll in, giving its own applause of the firework show.
