Mediacom 'Entrepreneur of Tomorrow' Award winners honored
BLOOMING GROVE — Mediacom Communications recently held a reception honoring this year’s class of Mediacom "Entrepreneur of Tomorrow" Award recipients.
The awards were presented to graduating seniors from 15 different high schools throughout Orange County.
Students were selected for the award based on a combination of work ethic, academic performance and personal accomplishments.
In addition, these young men and women also contributed to their schools and communities through extra-curricular activities and community service.
Each of the 15 students received a $1,000 college scholarship and a special plaque commemorating their achievement.
The next generation of entrepreneursDuring the reception, Mediacom’s Chairman and CEO, Rocco B. Commisso gave a brief history of Mediacom, highlighting the entrepreneurial roots upon which it was founded. He also provided insight on how to succeed in business, encouraging the students to work hard, lead by example, take risks, seize opportunities and always conduct themselves ethically.
“The scholarships I received graduating from high school were fundamental to my pursuit of a college education,” Commisso said. “In creating the Mediacom Entrepreneur of Tomorrow Award, it was my goal not only to recognize Orange County’s next generation of entrepreneurs but also to assist them, in a small way, in covering their college tuition.”
Through the World Class Scholars Program, September 11th Memorial Scholarship Fund, the Rocco B. Commisso American Dream Fund and the Entrepreneur of Tomorrow Award, Mediacom and Commisso have provided educational scholarships to more than 1,500 students nationwide since 2001.
