MONROE — The Hudson Valley Chapter of The Make A Wish Foundation recently helped Wish Child Tomas by granting his Wish of a personal Merry-Go-Round for his yard.
The Town of Monroe Highway Department and The Town of Chester Highway Department were instrumental in excavating and preparing the area and relocating another apparatus to allow for the installation of the Merry-Go-Round.
Pictured with Thomas and his family at the unveiling are Town of Monroe Highway employees and IBEW 363 members; pictured are Thor Midtbo, Billy Kyles, Highway Superintendent John Scherne, Rob Marsh and Chris Cocks along with Tomas and his parents and sisters.
“Chester is always very willing to help," said Chester Highway Superintendent Anthony La Spina, "and we appreciated being a part of the wish, and working together with Monroe.”
Added Monroe Highway Superintendent John Scherne: “It was a very heartwarming and great experience to be a part of, my men and myself were honored to help in a small way to add happiness in a child’s life.”
“When we generate an unconditional effort, the accomplishments are endless for those that work together in achieving a goal," Monroe Town Supervisor Tony Cardone concluded. "Thanks to Chester and Monroe for helping grant a child’s wish, Make a Wish has been there for Chester, Monroe and Orange County since the early 90’s, and will continue to be there for us!”
