M-W Rotary completes 35 years of bell ringing
MONROE — At the Feb. 21 meeting of the Monroe-Woodbury Rotary, club Vice President Eric Hassler presented a $7,224 check to Capt. James Downs of the Salvation Army in Middletown.
This was money raised by volunteers from Rotary and the M-W High School Interact Club, who braved the elements tending the famous Red Kettles at ShopRite, Stop & Shop and Walmart.
The Rotary Club of Monroe-Woodbury has organized this local Kettle Campaign since 1983, collecting $213,004 over that time.
Downs thanked the Rotarians and Interact members, plus the generous community members who pitched in.
“Need has no season," Downs said. "Your ringing, and the generosity of the M-W community, helped us reach our Kettle Goal this year. This will allow us to help almost 4,000 people locally.”
