Local students participate in Mediacom internship program
BLOOMING GROVE — The members of the 2017 Mediacom Communications Summer Internship Class wrapped up their 10-week professional skills program with a presentation to the senior management team at the company’s corporate headquarters in Blooming Grove.
Each of the 14 members of the intern class participated in a slideshow presentation highlighting the projects they worked on over the course of the summer. During the program, the interns fielded questions from Rocco B. Commisso, Mediacom’s founder, chairman and CEO, and other senior executives. Afterwards, the interns joined Commisso and the company leadership team for a luncheon where Commisso shared stories and answered questions related to his experience in the professional world.
“I am so proud of our interns for the work that they have done this summer,” said Brooke Kithcart, Mediacom’s manager of corporate recruitment. “Each of them gained valuable experience working in a corporate environment, and it truly showed by what they had to say in their presentations. Aside from what they learned, this intern class had a lot of fun working together and became great friends in the process.”
“My internship with Mediacom has been everything that I could have hoped for and more,” said Devon Wuagneux, marketing department intern. “The group presentation to Mr. Commisso and the senior management team is one of the major highlights of my experience this summer. I am now confident in my ability to not only create and execute a presentation, but also to effectively communicate with individuals on the executive level. I do not know of any other programs that provide the type of access to senior personnel that Mediacom allows, and I am extremely grateful for being given such a wonderful opportunity.”
Wuagneux, who majors in Communications Studies with a minor in Political Science, will be returning this fall to Villanova University for her junior year.
