American actress, Broadway star and singer Lexi Lawson warmed up the crowd with a variety of holiday songs on a cold December night last Friday during Woodbury Common Premium Outlets’ fourth annual Tree Lighting, sponsored by Cornerstone Family Healthcare.
Lawson, a Newburgh native, has held lead female roles in touring productions of "Rent" and "In the Heights." She debuted on Broadway as Eliza Hamilton in "Hamilton." She also starred in the 2019 Lifetime movie "Always and Forever Christmas."
Santa arrived on a Woodbury firetruck and had a Woodbury police escort that drew in the crowd. Afterward, children got their photos taken with Santa at the Simon® Santa Photo Experience.
In addition to Lawson, Allegro Youth Orchestra, M'Lanie Hunter Dance and others performed during the festivities in the Hudson Valley District outside of Market Hall.
Shoppers brought new, unwrapped toys to Woodbury Common’s Toys for Tots donation center.
And Woodbury Common gave away $2,000 in gift cards for visitors to finish their holiday shopping.
