— Long time Monroe resident Martin Rosmarin celebrated his 90th birthday on Tuesday Jan. 20.

In 1941, when he was 17, Rosmarin and his parents moved to Monroe to open Rosmarins Cottages.

During World War Two, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps as an airborne radar technician.

After the Marines, Rosmarin went to Brooklyn College, and then transferred to City College of New York where he received his degree in civil engineering.

He returned to the Monroe area to help his parents run Rosmarins Cottages.

Then in 1949, Rosmarin opened Rosmarins Day Camp, the first such camp for children in Orange County.

In 1956 he married his wife Belle. They have four children, and seven grandchildren.

To his delight, Rosmarins is still thriving and being run by his oldest son, Scott.
