Gold Star Mothers honored

MONROE — Three Gold Star mothers were honored on Gold Star Mothers Day on Sept. 25 at the dedication of the GSM memorial at American Legion Post 488 in Monroe.
The mothers in attendance were:
• Renate DeAngelis, mother of ET2 Christopher DeAngelis, U.S. Navy;
• Lorraine Griffenkrantz, mother of Major Paul Voelke, U.S. Army; and
• Vivian Allen, mother of 1st Lt. Louis Allen, U.S. Army.
Gold Star Mothers are an organization of mothers who have lost a son or daughter in the service of the country. The organization honors its sons and daughters through service to veterans and patriotic events.
