TUXEDO — A 16-year-old Tuxedo girl averted disaster on Saturday when the 2002 Jeep Cherokee she was driving overturned into a lake near the Tuxedo Golf Course.
The teenager was driving the Jeep during a snowstorm when she overcorrected herself on a turn near the golf course, Tuxedo Police Chief Patrick Welsh said.
"The roads were a little slippery," he said.
The Jan. 3 accident occurred at about 1 p.m. when the Jeep went off the road and rolled over onto the water's edge.
The young woman was able to escape the oveturned vehicle through a window while it rested in the shallow lake.
"She got out in a quick fashion," Welsh said.
She was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern by Sloatsburg Volunteer Community Ambulance Corps for minor injuries.
"We're very happy to report that this was a happy ending," Welsh said.
