MONROE — The 4-H Jumping Seeds club recently completed a volunteer project to build three benches to give to Pine Tree Elementary School to be part of its new outdoor garden.
Eleven children built, sanded and painted the benches at the home of Jodi Baker and Jay Kelbley, the club's leaders, with help from club parents.
Some of the funding for the project was underwritten by the Monroe-Woodbury Parents Advocating Gifted Education (PAGE) group.
The benches will be part of an outdoor classroom for the third-graders, according to Baker.
The group plans to build one additional bench next spring.
