Four people charged with shoplifting

CENTRAL VALLEY — Town of Woodbury Police have changed three men and a woman in connection with the theft of merchandize from several stores at Woodbury Common Premium Outlets valued at $17,756.87.

According to a press release from Lt. Arthur P. Abbott, Officers Michael Farahvashi, Brian Rudden and Charles Tausk responded to the Burberry outlet on Saturday, Sept. 28, for a report of a shoplifting incident that occurred earlier in the day.

Officers reviewed the store's video showing three Hispanic males and one Hispanic female stealing several trench coats, Abbott said.

As officers were on foot patrol at the Woodbury Common, they stopped the four suspects in the Red Apple Court area. One suspect fled on foot but was caught in the parking lot area.

The vehicle they suspects came in was searched and police said the officers recovered $17, 756.87 worth of stolen merchandise from several different stores.

Arrested were:
Devany Primero-Arredondo, 29, of Brentwood.

Jenny Mosquera-Angulo, 26, of College Point.

Carlos Alzate-Betancourt, 33, of Queens.

Andres Cruz, 22, of Orlando, Fla.

They were each charged with: third-degree grand larceny, a class D felony; third-degree possession of stolen property, also a class D felony; and conspiracy, a class A misdemeanor.

A class D felony carries a penalty of up to five years in prison and a fine from $500 to $7,500.

The suspects was arraigned before Woodbury Town Justice David Levinson and sent to Orange County Jail on $15,000 cash bail each.
