MONROE Students of Chabad Hebrew School of Orange County decorated and presented Cookies for Cops to express their appreciation for all they do.
On Sunday, Dec. 4, at the end of Hebrew School, some students and their parents of the Sunday classes went to the Village of Monroe Police Department to present their card and cookies they had decorated.
First, Officer John Loftus of Monroe, who is a police officer in the Bronx and father of Hebrew school student Juliana Loftus, spoke all about being a police officer.
Then, Officer Joseph Ryle of the Monroe Police Department gave the children a tour of the police station, processing and jail cells.
Rabbi Pesach Burston talked about the Torah mandate for setting up a justice system and law enforcement officers.
The students were excited about the experience and the police were grateful for the gesture of appreciation and the cookies.
Chabad Hebrew School of Orange County, run by Rabbi Pesach and Chana Burston and Youth Directors Leia Young and Chaya Batya Flamer, has 90 students and teen volunteers, and offers classes on Sunday mornings and Monday afternoons. For more information, visit www.ChabadOrange.com
