Members and supporters of the Monroe-Woodbury football program raised $1,000 last week for the ALS Association when Varsity Football Coach Bernie Connolly and High School Principal David Bernsley accepted the Ice Bucket Challenge. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, more commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. As of Aug. 27, the ALS Association has received $94.3 million in donations compared to $2.7 million during the same time period last year (July 29 to Aug. 27).
