Central Valley. Monroe-Woodbury earns national recognition as ‘Best Community for Music Education’ for 10th consecutive year

For the 10th consecutive year, Monroe-Woodbury School District has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education designation from The NAMM Foundation for its outstanding commitment to music education.

The Best Communities for Music Education designation is awarded to school districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in providing music access and education to all students.

The program is now in its 22nd year.

“Despite these trying times, during which the traditions of many music programs around the country have been impacted, Monroe-Woodbury has risen up, in no small part thanks to the support of our administration, Board of Education, parents and community,” said District Music Coordinator Christopher Taborsky. “Although reinvented, the M-W music program continues to involve its students in all disciplines of music education. From ensembles, to technology based general music classes, to virtual concerts and faculty performances, music is alive in Monroe-Woodbury.”

To qualify for the Best Communities designation, M-W answered detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program and community music-making programs.
