Central Valley. Justin T. Dimino Memorial Scholarship program announces 2021 awards and 2021 Out of Darkness Community Walk
As students are preparing to return to school, two deserving young Monroe area students are the recipients of the Justin T. Dimino Memorial Scholarship: Nicholas Shirazi of Sacred Heart Parish, who will be entering Burke Catholic High School in September, and Dean Pesce of Monroe-Woodbury High School, who will be a freshman at Springfield College in Massachuetts.
These scholarships are made possible through the support and generosity of the community by their participation in the Walk for Justin held for the last five years.
The families, businesses, students and staff of Monroe-Woodbury High School, the Rotary Club of Monroe-Woodbury and all the walkers are the heart of these fund-raising activities, designed to bring financial and emotional support, as well as awareness to suicide and its prevention which affects every age group and every community.
The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (914-610-9156, 888-333-2377) will be holding its 2021Out of Darkness Community Walk at the Earl Reservoir in Highland Mills on Sunday, Sept. 19.
Registration begins at 9 a.m.
Please mark your calendars and join Team Justin in the walk to fight suicide.
