BLOOMING GROVE — Eighteen area students have successfully completed the Mediacom Communications' 2016 summer internship program. The 10-week program exposed the interns to real work experience in their respective fields of study.
Established in 2003, Mediacom’s internship program provides college and graduate level students with practical experience in a professional corporate environment.

100 interns, 17 employees

In addition, the program helps develop a talent rich workforce for the Hudson Valley.
Since its inception, more than 100 interns have participated in the program and 17 have gone on to work in full-time positions at Mediacom.

Case in point

Amanda Gebert, for example, began her career at Mediacom as an intern during the summer of 2014. After receiving her Bachelor of Science degree, concentrated in marketing and management from SUNY Albany, she joined Mediacom’s marketing department as an analyst in August 2015.
In her professional role, Gebert generates sales forecasts and makes appropriate recommendations based on her findings. She also prepares and provides daily, weekly, and monthly metric reports.
“The internship program at Mediacom taught me so much in just three short months, and it really prepared me for a full time position,” Gebert said. “The program provided me with real-life experience I couldn’t find in my classroom. After I graduated, I was lucky enough to return home to work with the same marketing team I had the pleasure of working with the summer before.”
