— Time flies when you’re planning overnight graduation parties.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Monroe-Woodbury All-Night Graduation Party, planned and supervised by parents of the high school’s graduating class.

“The mission is to provide a safe, fun environment for the seniors following the actual graduation ceremony,” wrote Dr. Steve Pavia a Monroe chiropractor and resident, one of the parents involved with the planning, in a note to The Photo News. “Local businesses have donated food and non-alcoholic beverages for the event. Parents decorate and provide a theme for the night, which is a secret, and the event is funded by ticket sales and donations by the business community and private sector.”

The party will take place on Monroe-Woodbury High School’s graduation day, Friday, June 21, at the high school from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m.

June 9 fund raiser
As part of the planning, a fund raiser to help cover costs will be held on Sunday, June 9, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Palaia Winery in Highland Mills, featuring the “MightySpectrumBand,” a group organized by Pavia and his friends when they were in high school students at Clarkstown High School South in West Nyack in Rockland County in the 1970s and who continue to play together today.

Also appearing with MightySpectrumBand is the band “The Perfect Fifths,” comprised of Monroe-Woodbury High School students, including three members of the Class of 2013.

Tickets for the June 9 event are $10 per person and $5 for students.

Tickets are also now available for the all-night party at $30 per person if purchased by June 21; and $40 on the day of the event. Students can buy them during lunch periods on Thursdays and Fridays outside of the cafeteria.

Chaperones needed
Volunteers are needed for both events, including parents to chaperone the party. Meetings will be held June 3 and June 17 to provide more details.
