Warwick Valley Humane Society, as a designated “essential” business, has managed to keep the animal shelter doors open this past year with a dedicated staff caring for the community’s homeless pets.
However, they have had to close the facility to volunteers and visitors but continue to proceed with adoptions and the purchase of low cost cat spay-neuter certificates by appointment only.
The society’s annual membership drive is currently underway with the hope of increasing their membership to see them through the latter part of winter coupled now, with a lack of fund-raising events.
As a small not for profit, all donations help the society care for the assorted animals that come through their doors. Warwick Valley Humane Society does not offer T-shirts or a Tote bags for joining the organization, but members are entitled to vote during elections of officers and directors and are an integral part of our organization’s mission: “To provide a safe haven for our community’s homeless, injured and abused animals, promoting adoption, responsible pet ownership and spaying and neutering.”
Warwick Valley Humane Society is also seeking to fill vacancies on the Board of Directors with those individuals who have a passion for animal welfare, a willingness to learn and participate in the shelter’s responsibilities, can attend all fund raisers and all directors meetings either in person or via Zoom, and contribute their time and area of expertise to their mission.
Those interested are asked to please send a letter of intent for consideration along with membership dues to WVHS PO Box 61, Warwick, NY 10990.
A description of membership dues is available at wvhumane.org or by calling the shelter at 845-986-2473.
