Sister Susan Marie Norton professes final vows

MONROE — On April 14,, Sister Susan Marie Norton made her perpetual profession of vows as a Parish Visitor of Mary Immaculate at Marycrest Convent, the congregation’s Motherhouse in Monroe.

Sister’s vows were received during a Mass in which the Rev. Kazimierz Chwalek was the principle celebrant and homilist. Msgr. John Paddack, pastor of Notre Dame Church in New York City, the Rev. Christopher Argano, pastoral associate at Sacred Heart Church in Monroe, and the Rev. Joseph Doran, Marycrest Convent chaplain, were the concelebrants. Chwalek is the vicar provincial of the Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception out of Stockbridge, Mass.

Sister entered the religious community on Sept. 15, 2002, and made her first profession of vows on Aug. 15, 2005. Before entrance, her parish was the Church of the Holy Spirit in the Diocese of Rochester.

Born in upstate Olean, Sister graduated from Fairport High School and attended Palmyra Elementary School and Pal-Mac Middle School. She earned an Apostolic Catechetical Diploma from The College of Saint Mary Magadalen, Warren, N.H. and is attending Mt. Saint Mary’s College in Newburgh

She was a catechist and did family visitation in Holy Family Parish in the Bronx. She was a catechist at Sacred Heart Parish in Monroe (2009-10) and at St. John the Baptist in upstate Rome (2008-09) and did family visitation in St. Anthony’s Parish in Throop, Pa. (2006-08).

Sister Susan Marie is the daughter of John and Sharon Norton of Fairport.
