Pastor of Highland Mills United Methodist Church named an elder of the church

HIGHLAND MILLS — The Rev. Darlene E.R. Resling, who has been pastor of the Highland Mills United Methodist Church since 2009, was ordained as an elder of the United Methodist Church at the New York Annual Conference at Long Island’s Hofstra University on June 9.

Pastor Darlene, as she is known to her church family, is also pastor of the Mountainville United Methodist Church. Her ordination is the culmination of years of study and marked the completion of her formal preparation for the ministry and her election as a member in full connection with the Annual Conference.

She is a native of Fishkill and had a career in education there prior to entering the ministry. Ordination marked the completion of her formal preparation for the ministry.

Responsibilities of United Methodist ministers include preaching and teaching, presiding at the celebration of the sacraments, administering the church through pastoral guidance, and leading their congregations in service to the world.
