Bill Bennett of Las Vegas, Nevada, and formerly of Highland Mills in the Hudson Valley and North Babylon on Long Island, entered into eternal rest on Monday, March 22, 2021, at his home. He was 76 years old.
The son of Matthew and Ellen Bennett, Bill was born on Nov. 14, 1944, in Brooklyn.
Bill was a graduate of Monroe-Woodbury High School, Class of 1960. He spent most of his working life in the paper box industry, serving as Vice President for MC Packaging for many years.
Bill was a lifelong Roman Catholic.
His family’s statement reads: “Bill was one of a kind and always fun to be around. He was known for his lightning fast wit and for telling hilarious stories (some were even true). But most of all, he was known for his love of family. He often said ‘family is everything.’ He will be sadly missed, but he will live on in the stories we tell of the man, the myth, the legend.”
Bill is survived by his devoted wife of 38 years, Joan of Las Vegas; his son Bill (Sandie) of Chester; his daughter Shannon of Virginia; his daughter Kelly of Las Vegas; and his daughter Kaitlin of Los Angeles, California. Bill is also survived by his sister Patricia Scanlan of Virginia and brothers Michael (MaryEllen) of Beacon and Matthew (Sarah) of Goshen. He is also survived by his four loving grandchildren: Kerry, Tyler, Brendan and Liam, as well as his great- granddaughter Kayleigh. Bill is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon on Saturday, May 15, at Saint Patrick’s Church in Highland Mills.
His cremains will be interred immediately thereafter at the Cemetery of the Highlands in Highland Mills.
Funeral arrangements have been managed by Quigley -Sullivan Funeral Home, Inc., in Cornwall-on-Hudson.
