Russell P. Chasin, M.D., of Monroe, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 12, 2021, at Kaplan Family Hospice Residence in Newburgh. He was 76 years old.
The son of Melvin and Angela Delmau Chasin, he was born on July 14, 1945, in Brooklyn.
Russell was a Physician at First Care Physicians in Monroe.
He graduated Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biochemistry in 1967. He immediately went into the manufacturing business with his father-in-law but his love for the health sciences kept drawing him back to health care.
He continued his dedication to the health sciences working in cancer research at the prestigious institutions Sloan Kettering, The Rockefeller Institute as well as the Hoffman-LaRoche Institute of Molecular Biology.
In 1984, after much thought, he decided to pursue his lifelong dream of treating patients and becoming a medical doctor. Since 1990 he has devoted his life to his true love of treating patients in his community. Those who knew him would say that he is kind and compassionate and always made time to learn about his patients and their families. He was loved by his family and patients.
Survivors include his loving wife Dolores “Dee” Chasin of Monroe; his children: Marc Chasin, M.D., of Haverstraw; Brian Chasin, M.D., of Tucson, Arizona; and Stacie Chasin, M.D., and her husband Jeffrey Johnson of Goshen; and his beloved grandchildren: Sarah, Rachel, Leah, Zachary, Andrew, Robert, Elizabeth and Adam.
Shiva was observed on Aug. 16th, 17th, and 18th at the Monroe Temple Beth-El, 314 N. Main St., Monroe, NY 10950.
All other services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Entombment will follow at Sanctuary of Abraham & Sarah Mausoleum in Paramus, N.J.
