Robert E. Smith

Robert E. Smith of Monroe, a lifelong resident of the area, passed away at the home of his loving sister on Tuesday, April 24, 2018. He was 70 years old.
The son of Edson F. “Swifty” and Dorothy Jordan Smith, he was born Sept. 23, 1947, in Cornwall.
Bob was a graduate of SUNY Plattsburgh, receiving a Bachelor’s of Science in History.
Bob was a retired technician with Nepera Chemical Co., Inc. of Harriman.
He also was a substitute teacher as well as an Orange/Ulster BOCES track and field official and football referee throughout Orange and Sullivan counties.
Survivors include his sister Betty Ann Muller and her husband Al of Monroe; his brother Edward F. Smith of Highland Mills; and his nephews Nicholas and Daniel Muller.
Visitation was held April 29 at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home in Monroe.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated on April 30 at St. Anastasia Shrine Church in Harriman.
Cremation took place at Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.
