Michael G. De Maio of Sarasota, Fla., passed away on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at the age of 95.
He was born on Feb. 22, 1926, to Michael De Maio and Rose Bruno in Brooklyn.
Michael served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Upon his honorable discharge he graduated college as a chemist and started his career working at Uhlich Color Co. in Brooklyn; later it was moved to Hasting-On-Hudson.
In 1991 as president and owner of the company he and his wife Eleanor moved to Naples, Fla., and became snowbirds. They enjoyed extensive traveling and his hobbies of woodworking, model trains, football and family celebrations filled his life.
He is survived by his loving wife Eleanor De Clerck De Maio; children: Susan O’Connor of Ridgefield, Conn.; Barbara Arnold of Lakewood Ranch, Fla.; Debora Amato of Cornwall; Diane Gallo of Bolton Landing; John De Clerck of Scottsdale, Arizona; Kevin De Clerck of Highland Mills; Douglas De Clerck of Goshen and Russell De Clerck of Goshen; 21 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Visitation was held July 22 at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush Funeral Home, 515 Route 32, Highland Mills.
A Funeral Service was held July 23 at Highland Mills Methodist Church.
Interment followed at Cemetery of the Highlands.
