Michael Flamholtz of Monroe passed away on Thursday, Nov. 4, 2021, after a valiant fight against Parkinson’s disease. He was 78 years old.
He was born in the Bronx, the only child of Beatrice and Max Flamholtz. He was married to his beloved wife, Karen, for 55 beautiful years.
Michael was an administrator for the New York City Department of Social Services, commuting daily to the city and retiring after 37 years.
Michael was the backbone of our family. He was strong, hardworking and dependable. He had a great sense of humor and made us smile every day.
Above all, he was a devoted family man - his family always came first - nothing was more important to him.
He was a caring and kind son and son-in-law, husband, nurturing and supportive father and a very involved grandfather.
His two daughters and three grandchildren were the lights of his life.
He had so much to be proud of, but what made him the proudest was his family. There are endless memories of family trips and, in later years, cruising together. He was an avid Mets fan, he loved cruising, but his very best day ever was spending time with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Karen, his cherished daughters, Lisa Rucker and Marcy Flamholtz, his son-in-law Phil Rucker, his daughter-in-law Mystery Lusk, his three treasured grandchildren, Rachel, Matthew, and Mason, his sister-in-law Susan Willner, his two nieces, and many lifelong friends.
We will always cherish his memory. May he Rest in Perfect Peace.
Funeral services and burial were held on Nov. 7 at Cedar Park Cemetery in Paramus, N.J., with Rabbi Roger Lerner officiating.
