Julia O. (Torpey) DeFeo of Rock Tavern passed away Sunday, July 15, 2012, at the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence in Newburgh. She was 47 and a lifelong resident of the area.

The daughter of Ronald P. Torpey Sr. and Johanna Inzucchi Torpey, she was born Feb. 13, 1965, in Suffern.

Survivors include her parents Ronald P. and Johanna Torpey of South Blooming Grove; her daughters Jessica O. Coyle and her husband Brendan of Norfolk, Va., Sarah N. Nodhturft and her husband John of Harriman and Heather J. Bechtel and her husband Dennis of Rock Tavern; her brothers Patrick Torpey of New Windsor and Ronald P. Torpey Jr. of South Blooming Grove; her sister Bridget Muller of Gansevoort; her five grandchildren: Alexah, Alaina, Lila and twins Bella and Emma; and her maternal grandmother Orsolina Inzucchi of South Blooming Grove.

The family would like to thank Orange Regional Medical Center Oncology and Good Samaritan Home Care, especially Diane, Kimberly, Julie, Fatima and all the other wonderful medical staff that took such great care.

Julia was a talented painter, animal lover, mother, daughter and friend. She will be missed dearly.

Visitation was scheduled for Thursday, July 18, from 5 to 8 p.m., at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple Ave., Monroe.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 2,0 at St. Anastasia Parish Church, Route 17M, Harriman. Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.

The family has asked in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to The Kaplan Family Hospice Residence, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550 or ORMC Oncology Unit, 707 East Main St., Middletown, NY, 10940.
