Joseph Haller of Monroe died on Saturday, March 18, 2017, at Orange Regional Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill. He was 64.
The son of Joseph Haller and Ann Sebastian Haller, he was born Aug. 18, 1952, in Suffern.
A second-generation land surveyor, he was a partner and chief surveyor for Civil Tec Engineering and Surveying PC in Suffern.
His favorite teams were the Yankees and the Jets. He also had a love for music and was a huge Beatles fan. He shared his love of music with many people through his Lyric of the Day emails, Groovy Reflections, and by always providing the tunes at parties and events.
He coached Monroe-Woodbury Little League baseball and PTA basketball for all of his sons' teams.
He worked summers with his dad to learn the business of surveying. In 1979 he earned his license and went on to open his own practice in 1982. He was a member of the N.Y.S. Association of Professional Land Surveyors and held all offices of the Delaware-Hudson Land Surveyors Association, where he was a member and three times past-president.
Survivors include his wife, Laura, at home; sons Joseph William Haller and his wife, Kate, of Chester, Timothy John Haller and his wife, Rachael, of Binghamton and William Edward Haller and his wife, Christy, of Binghamton; sister Irene (Steve) Buckenberger of Stony Point; grandchildren Henry, Joey, Eden, Lucas, and Leeson; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother Edward.
Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 25, with a Service of Remembrance from noon to 1 p.m. at Smith, Seaman and Quackenbush Funeral Home, 117 Maple Ave., Monroe.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Blooming Grove Volunteer Ambulance Corps, 7 North St., Washingtonville, NY 10992.
At the request of the Corps, please include a brief letter stating the purpose of the donation.
