John Thomas Kerins (Tom) of Monroe passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2021, at the age of 83. He died peacefully and quietly in his sleep.
Tom was born June 28, 1938, in the Bronx. After graduation from high school, he served in the U.S. Navy.
He married Antoinette (Toni) Finelli Kerins on April 27, 1963. They were happily married for 58 years. Together they volunteered and worked for the Catholic community of Sacred Heart Monroe, Pallottine Sisters and Archdiocese of New York. Tom had served faithfully as a youth minister since 1970 and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Tom also worked for the United Parcel Service (UPS) for 31 years prior to retirement in 1994.
Survivors include his loving family: his wife, Antoinette M. Kerins of Monroe; children Sean and Mo Kerins of Sandy Hook, Conn., and Patrice and Michael Kainrath of Naperville, Ill.; seven grandchildren: Johnny, Ricky, Kathryn, Erin, Lauren, Brian and Sean. Tom was predeceased by his parents John (Tom) and Mary Kerins and his siblings Margaret (Peggy) Barbillon and Noreen Angel.
Visitation was held on July 14 at Smith, Seaman and Quackenbush Funeral Home, Monroe. A funeral mass was celebrated on July 15 at Sacred Heart Church, Monroe. Interment followed at Orange County Veterans Cemetery in Goshen.
