James Francis Murray
James Francis Murray of Monroe, longtime area resident, passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2016. He was 83.
Son of John Murray and Mary Mullarkey Murray, he was born May 3, 1932, in the Bronx.
James was a retired firefighter with FDNY Engine 46 in the Bronx. He also later retired as an auditor with the IRS in Bardonia.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving in Korea.
James was a devoted parishioner and usher with St. Anastasia Church in Harriman, a member and past Grand Knight with Knights of Columbus Council 2079, a member of the Orange County Retired FDNY, a member of VFW Post 8858 in Harriman and a member of FDNY Holy Name & Emerald Society.
He is survived by his wife Kathleen Sheehan Murray at home; his daughter Kathleen King and her husband Gary of Washingtonville; his brother John E. Murray of Saddle River, N.J.; his grandchildren: Brandon, Elizabeth, Caitlyn and Sean; and great grandchildren Olivia and Fiona.
He was predeceased by his sisters Mary Collins, Peggy Libihoul and Kitty Hayes.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, March 18, at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple Ave., Monroe.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 19, at St. Anastasia Parish Church, Route 17M, Harriman.
Interment will follow in St. Anastasia Cemetery in Harriman.
