Harry Kohn
Harold “Harry” Kohn, a resident of Chester, passed away Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at Orange Regional Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill. He was 82.
Son of Marcus Kohn and Rose Klinger Kohn, he was born Jan. 8, 1931, in Brooklyn.
Harry grew up in Middle Village, Queens, and retired as principal of P.S. 12 in Queens.
He was a staff sergeant of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Tonhazy Kohn, at home, and many nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers Samuel and William Kohn, his sisters Sarah Seltzer and Bella Becker, and his first wife, Barbara Cohen Kohn.
A funeral service was held Jan. 27 at Temple Beth-El, Monroe Temple of Liberal Judaism. Interment followed in Orange County Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Goshen.
