Frederick D. Smith of Washingtonville passed away on Aug. 25, 2023, at Garnet Health Medical Center in the Town of Wallkill. He was 84 years old.
The son of Frederick and Hanora (O’Callaghan) Smith, he was born on Oct. 23, 1938, in New York City.
Frederick’s extensive background includes serving in the U.S. Army from 1958-1961, followed by his role as a Construction Service Representative for Con Ed in New York City.
He has demonstrated his commitment to his community through his long-standing service as Treasurer of the Mt. Lodge Fire Company for 40 years and an active member for 50 years, and his involvement in the Knights of Columbus Council and Our Lady Lourdes Council 5890 in Washingtonville. Additionally, he has served on the Housing Urban Development “HUD” Board in Washingtonville.
Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife Patricia Smith of Washingtonville; son Patrick “PJ” Smith and his wife Tammy of Flemington, N.J.; his sister Honora Bellucco and her husband Pasquale of Goshen; and his beloved grandson Connor John Smith.
In addition to his parents, Frederick was also predeceased by his son Frederick M. Smith.
Visitation was held Aug. 31 at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush Funeral Home, 117 Maple Ave., Monroe.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated Sept. 1 at St. Mary’s Church, 42 Goshen Ave., Washingtonville.
Interment followed at Orange County Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Goshen.
