Edward F. Devlin Jr., a 50-year resident of Monroe, passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2016, at Orange Regional Medical Center with his loving family by his side.
Son of Edward Devlin and Lillian (Corby) Devlin, he was born Feb. 20, 1933, in Brooklyn.
Ed was retired FDNY Ladder 34 out of Manhattan.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of NYC Retired Firefighters Association of Orange County, a member of FDNY Emerald Society, the Monroe-Chester Sportsman’s Club and a member of Woodbury Field & Stream.
His pride and many joys were his children, grandchildren and his sons- and daughters-in-law.
He loved to hunt and fish and go to breakfast with the retired “lads” from the Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Bridget (Daly) Devlin; his six children: James Devlin (Michele), JoAnn DiGennaro (Dominick), Jeanmarie Adams (Dave), Jackie Devlin (Bob Meister), Jeffrey Devlin (Jeannie) and Jennifer Devlin (Sean Gage); his grandchildren: Joseph, Justine, Natalie, Rachel, Tara, Dana, Heather, Robert and Melissa; his great grandchildren: Christian, Bailey, Jade, Ethan, Scarlet and Nellie; his two sisters: Marian Steiger and Winifred Gunter; his sister-in-law Rosemarie Devlin; and many nieces and nephews.
Ed was predeceased by his brother Bernard Devlin.
His family wishes to thank all those who cared for him over the years and during his recent hospital stay. His guardian angel Dr. Winchester-Penny, Dr. Linneman, Dr. Hulse and all their staff at Crystal Run who cared for him for years. Dr. Sethi and his staff and Andrea Cronin and all who treated him as if he was part of their family.
Thanks and praise to ORMC nurses and administration and all their staff, particularly Florence, Pretika, Brianne, Kat and Kimberly, who cared for him as if he was their only patient, and all the staff and transitional assistants.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated May 2 at St. Anastasia Parish Church in Harriman.
Interment followed in St. Anastasia Cemetery.
