Brendan G. Reidy

Brendan G. Reidy of Tuxedo and formerly of Central Valley, passed away Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016, at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx. He was 92 years old.
The son of Michael and Margaret Brophy Reidy, he was born Dec. 12, 1924, in Staten Island.
Brendan was a Staten Island native who moved to Central Valley more than 40 years ago.
He retired in 1972 as a captain with the NYPD in charge of detectives in Manhattan, and later as Director of Security with Shearson-American Express of New York City.
He was a member of St. Patrick’s Church of Highland Mills, a member of the Woodbury Historical Society, American Legion Woodbury Post #779 and the Smallwood Civic Association of Smallwood.
Brendan was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served during World War II on B-29’s as a gunner with more than 35 missions over Japan. He was awarded more than six medals including the Distinguished Flying Cross.
Survivors include his sons: Michael Reidy and his wife Kathleen of Oceanside and Gerard Reidy and his wife Joyce of New York City; his daughters: Margaret Reidy of Guilderland, Katheleen Reidy and Robert Meek of Interlaken, Mary Weyant of Amherst and Grace Cross and her husband Thomas of Alexandria, Va.; nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Brendan was predeceased by his wife Margaret Cox Reidy.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated Dec. 22 at St. Patrick’s Church in Highland Mills.
Interment followed in Cemetery of The Highlands in Highland Mills.
