County Executive Neuhaus welcomes Hall of Famer Mariano Rivera to Orange County

Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus and other elected officials joined former Yankees star Mariano Rivera in Chester on Saturday, Oct. 24, to welcome a new business, Mr. Auto Body, to Orange County.

Mr. Auto Body is owned by Rivera’s son, Mariano Jr.

Mariano Sr. pitched for the Yankees from 1995 to 2013 and served as the Yankees’ closer for 17 seasons. He was a 13-time All-Star, a five-time World Series champion and is Major League Baseball’s career leader in saves (652). Rivera was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame as part of its 2019 class in his first year of eligibility and was the first player ever to be elected unanimously by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America.

Rivera signed autographs for dozens of fans at the small event. Chairman of the Orange County Legislature Steve Brescia, Sheriff Carl E. DuBois and Assemblymen Colin Schmitt and Karl Brabenec were also in attendance.

“It was an honor to meet Mariano Rivera, the great closer of all-time and a Yankees’ legend,” Neuhaus said. “For all his success on the mound, ‘Mo’ was also known as a gentleman and a professional. I can tell you that Mariano comes as advertised and it was a pleasure to spend some time with him. I greatly appreciate Mariano and Mariano Jr. for investing in Orange County and wish them the best of luck.”
