County awards Town of Tuxedo with $4,999 to promote tourism

Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus presented officials from the Town of Tuxedo a $4,999 check on Monday, Dec. 9, to help promote tourism in the bustling Town.
Town of Supervisor-elect Ken English, Councilwoman Michele Lindsay, Orange County Director of Tourism Amanda Dana and Economic Development Director Bill Fioravanti also attended the event.
“We want to encourage our municipalities to promote all that they have to offer,” Neuhaus said. “Tuxedo hosts many wonderful events and attracts tourists to the region which generates revenue for the county. When you attract more overnight visitors to our great County, it pays dividends. The county will continue to invest a variety of resources into promoting Orange County tourism.”
Tuxedo will utilize a portion of the funding to support more signage in collaboration with the NY/NJ Trail Conference, which will lead hikers from the Metro North train station to its various trail heads. The NY/NJ Trail Conference is a volunteer organization which builds, maintains and protects public trails to ensure that they are sustainable for years to come.
Tuxedo officials also plan to use the funding to develop a marketing campaign to attract visitors, families and hiking groups and to host a special event next year that will include shuttle service to the Sterling Forest Visitor Center and to various trail heads in the parks.
