West African drumming and dance classes

Port Jervis — Traditional West African drumming and dance will be taught Thursdays from Sept. 15 through Nov. 17 at St. Peter’s Church fellowship hall, located at 31 West Main St. in Port Jervis. Ghanaian master drummer Maxwell Kofi Donkor will teach the classes assisted by Kathy Brink. The drumming sessions will run from 6 to 7 p.m. followed by the dance sessions from 7 to 8 p.m. The course will conclude with a community party. Adults pay $15 for either drumming or dance and $20 for both drumming and dance. Students in grades 6 and up pay $5 for either drumming or dance and $8 for both.
