Warwick. Hudson Valley Jazz Festival to feature outdoor performances with limited audience sizes

So this year’s Hudson Valley Jazz Festival, Aug. 13-16 has been scaled back in consideration of safest way to have live performances during the pandemic.

Steve Rubin, the festival’s said all performances will be outdoor shows with limited audience sizes. As of this writing several musicians are producing their own “Backyard Jazz.”

“In addition there are discussions with organizations for use of parks and properties,” Rubin said in the email updating the festival’s program. “There are discussions with village boards, a drive in and a chamber of commerce.”

Festival site www.hudsonvalleyjazzfest.org will be updated regularly and will reflect schedule including artists, locations, etc.

“Live music venues have (along with many other businesses) been devastated by this global health emergency,” Rubin said. “The jazz community is working hard to keep the spirit of the music alive.

“Jazz is an American music,” he added, “an original art form and a defining part of the American culture. The Hudson Valley is fortunate to have many jazz artists living here. Some will perform from their garage, back yard, a friend’s front lawn, art gallery, village green, performing arts center and small park.
