MONROE The Playhouse at Museum Village begins its 20th season this weekend with Arthur Miller’s classic, “The Crucible.”

Accusations fly, old loyalties are ripped apart and no-one's innocence can be taken for granted. In 1692, a dark magic consumes the town of Salem, Massachusetts. When two young girls claim to have been influenced by sinister witchcraft, they point accusing fingers at unsuspecting townsfolk for making secret deals with the devil. These harsh accusations swell to massive proportions until no one is safe from suspicion. Arthur Miller’s hair-raising classic unmasks deadly truths about the nature of humanity and the terrifying ends to which a society, blended by suspicion and mass hysteria, will go. This production is directed by Terri Weiss.

Performances are scheduled for May 1, 2, 8, 9, 14, 15 and 16 at 8 p.m., and on Sundays, May 3 and May 17, at 3 p.m. All performances are at The Playhouse at Museum Village, Route 17M, in Monroe.

Tickets to individual performances are $22 each, which includes dessert at intermission consisting of apple pie, ice cream, iced tea and coffee. Group rates are available and reservations are suggested. For more information, call the box office at 845-294-9465 or visit CTMWP.ORG.
