Poet Harris Schiff to read his work

    WARWICK — Harris Schiff will read his work at the next free program in the Poetry on the Loose Reading/Performance Series tomorrow, Aug. 7 at 4 p.m. at 7 West Street. Schiff is the author many books, including “Secret Clouds,” “Easy St.,” and “In The Heart of the Empire.” His works have appeared in numerous anthologies including The World Anthology, Another World, The Face of Poetry, American Poets Say Goodbye to the Twentieth Century, and The Angel Hair Anthology. Harris’ works seek to define a new model for a third millennium, according to organizers. He has a long history of exploiting electronic media in his work. In 1996 Schiff uploaded the first and longest continuing online magazine, $lavery - Cyberzine of the Arts at www.cyberpoems.com. In 2009 he created one of the world’s first “cyberpoems” at www.cyberpoems.com/2009. His tribute to the late artist George Schneeman is available at www.cyberpoems.com/Babbo. Currently Schiff has expanded his work into video-poetry and video treatises for the Internet. He collaborates with poet- photographer/videographer Monica Claire Antonie at http://www.youtube.com/user/accenteditions. Schiff will be the first featured poet in Antonie’s One More Beat series of books scheduled for late 2010 release under the Accent Editions imprint. A trilingual (English, Spanish, French) world traveler, poet Harris Schiff, recently gave readings in three countries in Central America where a book of his poems will soon be published by Editorial Indole of San Salvador, El Salvador.
