Local teen and L.A. comedian to headline 'Laughter & L’chaim'

Chabad of Orange County invites the community to join “An Evening of Laughter & L’Chaim” at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16, at the Rushmore Estate Ballroom, 14 Castleton Drive, Highland Mills.

The event will feature hors d'oeuvres, fine kosher wines, cheese, desserts, music, and kosher comedy.

Duvy Burston, 17, of Monroe will perform some of his recently released singles locally for the first time. The eldest son of Rabbi Pesach and Chana Burston, who lead Chabad of Orange County, is currently studying at a Rabbinical College in Brooklyn. He has released two singles, "Ki Atah Imadi" and "Searching for You." His Spotify bio reads: "Hey! I'm just a teenager trying to add some light to the world. Hope you enjoy my music!"

“We are delighted to have Duvy perform some of his songs with you, the community he loves and grew up in,” said Chana Burston.

Comedian Robert Cait of Los Angeles, dubbed the “chosen” comedian, will entertain with his Jewish stand-up comedy, which has earned him the title “George Carlin with a kippah.” His stand-up routine is clean enough for his Bubbie to watch while still connecting to a wide demographic. He has kept audiences rolling from “The Just For Laughs Comedy Festival” in Montreal to the “Howard Stern Show” in New York, as well as in theaters from coast to coast. His act is sprinkled with Hebrew and Yiddish (he’s fluent in both!). Cait has been lauded by critics for his comedy on MTV, A&E and Comedy Central and has been in several films honored by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. He has appeared from the Oscar-winning Best Feature Documentary "A Long Way Home" to the DreamWorks Oscar-nominated Best Animated feature "Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron."

Proceeds from this event will benefit youth scholarships at Chabad.

“Though Chabad Worldwide is bound together by a mutual vision, funding for Chabad of Orange County is not provided by Chabad Headquarters,” said Rabbi Burston. “Also, we don’t charge membership fees, because we don’t want to make finances of condition of joining. We raise our budget through cover fees to some of our events, but mostly through community partners and donors who care about our community and share Chabad’s goals.”
