Florida -Jimmy Sturr and his Orchestra have been nominated for a Grammy Award in the “folk category” for their newest CD: “Polka Cola - The Music That Refreshes.” This is Sturr’s 23rd Grammy nomination; he and his band have won 18. Earlier this year, the Grammy Committee did away with the polka category, therefore opening the way for Sturr and the band to enter in the folk category. The winner will be announced on the nationally televised show on Jan. 31. Jimmy Sturr and his Orchestra recently taped a television special at the Windsor Casino, in Windsor, Ontario, for Chicago’s PBS station. The show will air nationwide in March.
