Orange County Arts Council announces its first annual online arts auction, “Together for Art,” featuring works of artists from Orange County.
A 50 percent commission will go directly to the artists whose works are sold while the remaining 50 percent of the proceeds will benefit Orange County Arts Council. Bids open on Tuesday, Sept. 1. Visit OCAC’s website and Facebook page to see the works up for auction and bidding information.
Due to challenges of COVID-19, Orange County Arts Council has faced significant loss of funding and resources, including the loss of government funding. Local artists who depend upon sales of their works have seen their markets shrink, as well as opportunities for commissions.
“We believe that the arts are crucial to rebuilding our cultural community,” says Sarah McKay, OCAC’s executive director. “We know that the arts provide economic development, invigorate public spaces and provide a livelihood for many of our members. So we hope that people will consider supporting the Orange County Arts Council through participating in “Together For Art” online auction.”
Proceeds from the “Together for Art” auction will fund programs that provide crucial aid to the arts community. These programs include 1:1 arts consultations through our Arts Support Services, Artists Conversations with Industry which connects artists to potential career opportunities, the Students Arts Showcase, Community Arts Grants, Studio Visits and educational programs like the Jarrett Markel Creativity Boot Camp.
