The Greenwood Lake Power Boat Racing Association is bringing racing to Greenwood Lake in June.
Power boat races will be held on Saturday and Sunday, June 17 and 18, at Browns Point on Greenwood Lake Turnpike.
Billed as "Thunder in the Mountains, gates open at 10 a.m. both days, with racing beginning around 11:30 a.m. Again this year, the association is teaming up with the Greenwood Forest Fire Company, with about 45 volunteers from the groups making the event go.
The group is expecting 60 or more race boats with competitors from all over the country and Canada. The races bring thrills and high speeds on the lake.
More than racesThis is a family event, especially with the second day falling on Father's Day. There will be a bouncy house, face painting and other vendors for kids to enjoy.
The beer garden will open at noon each day and is available for all who are 21 and older.
No coolers, outside beverages or food is allowed in the park. There will be concessions at the park, including three food trucks and an ice cream vendor both days.
The group is still accepting vendors, advertisers and sponsors to help defray the cost of the event. Email greenwoodlakeraces@yahoo.com for information.
