Skoufis and Brabenec announce $9,710 for Monroe Free Library Senator James Skoufis and Assemblyman Karl Brabenec announced $9,710 in funding for the Monroe Free Library to upgrade its outdoor programming space.
The grant came from the library construction aid program funded through the state budget.
“Easy public access to libraries is a vital part of the foundation of every community,” Skoufis said in the press release detailing the funding. “It’s imperative that our libraries are provided with the funding they need to ensure our community can access its indispensable resources, and I remain committed to ensuring our libraries are supported by the state.”
Assemblyman Brabenec added: “I was excited to hear that Monroe Library was awarded this critical construction grant. The Senator and I worked very hard during this past session to make sure these Library Construction Grants were restored in the state budget. I am delighted that the youth of our community will soon have a wonderful playground at their local library to play, learn and make friends.”
Marilyn McIntosh, the library’s executive director, also added: “This funding is incredibly important and will allow us to revamp our backyard area to ensure that it is a more safe and accessible place for both children and adults. I thank Senator Skoufis and Assemblyman Brabenec for making sure this was brought back to our library and the Monroe Free Library is grateful for their support.”
