Greenwood Lake and Sterling Forest in the Revolution author talk

On Sunday, Jan. 12, at 1 p.m. the Friends of Sterling Forest will host local historian Sue Gardner at the Lautenberg Visitor Center, presenting material from her new book, "Pure Necessity: Revolution at Warwick."

The talk will include special emphasis on events in the Greenwood Lake and Sterling Forest area.

The book tells the story of the Town of Warwick during the Revolutionary War, using original documents, eyewitness testimony and oral traditions.

Departing from the famous story of Sterling Forge, learn about less well-known history such as the infamous murder that happened in the Dutch Hollow area in 1779 and why Benedict Arnold’s treason is connected to the area.

Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing.

The Lautenberg Center is located at 116 Old Forge Road in Tuxedo.
