Emily Schacher, like most, has been affected by cancer.
"This horrible disease has taken my friend from me at the age of 13 and has made a home in my father's once healthy bones," said Emily, a 15-year-old sophomore at Monroe-Woodbury High School.
That's why this figure skater is hosting a "Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer" event on Sunday, May 21 at her home rink in Hackensack, N.J.
She will skate a 5K - that's 82 laps - to raise funds and awareness in the war against cancer.
And she needs your help. Go to mysk8.org/goto/icehouse to read her story and to donate. Any donation of $25 and above is tax deductible. The proceeds will benefit the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation for cancer research and education as well as Tomorrows Children's Pediatric Oncology Center in the Hackensack Medical Center.
