25-23: Bourbon St. Bar & Grill/A&T HealthCare edges the Captain’s Table by two runs
MONROE — In a game for the record books, Bourbon St. Bar & Grill/A&T HealthCare defeated the Captain’s Table 25-23.
After Bourbon scored 13 runs in the second inning to take a 16-1 lead and then made it 20-6 after four innings, the Table stormed back by scoring 13 runs in the fifth.
Steven Diaz and Dave Whitney hit home runs to put the Table on top 23-21 entering the seventh.
Bourbon then rallied for four runs in the top of the inning and then Mike Mancuso held the Table scoreless in the bottom of the frame to secure the victory.
For Bourbon, Hall of Famer Dave Krawczyk had a career night by going 5 for 6 with a grand slam and 9 RBIs. Future Hall of Famer John Lawson added three hits, including a home run and 6 RBIs. Mike Grasso and Bobby Alymer had three hits apiece.
Winning pitcher Mancuso and leadoff hitter Dan Welch scored five runs each.
For the Table, Matty McKeon and Frank Kelleher continued their hot hitting; Mike D’Angelo also homered.
Crowd favorite George Sanchez was his normal entertaining self, excelling at shortstop.
Poppy’s 21
Best Mechanical 12
Poppy’s defeated Best Mechanical 21-12, improving to 8-3. That leaves them half a game behind the Captain’s Table in second place with four games remaining.
Poppy’s offense was led by veteran Ronnie Crover who was 5-5 with a three doubles, a triple and home run accounting for six RBIs.
John Murray also provided a major contribution, going 4-6 with two doubles and a triple with four RBIs. Following John was Erdem Bessim who was 4-7 including a double and home with two RBIs.
Iona College head coach Pat Carey was 3-6 with a home run and double of his own. Nicky Sansalone went the distance for his seventh win of the season.

Behind another solid pitching performance from Ronnie “RA” Hughes, the Jewelers/Day Campers defeated Birchwood Caterers 17-3.
The Jewelers/Day Campers played solid defense. Armand Kurth and Ian Bauer hit homers to lead the offense.

Monroe Jewelers/Rosemarins Day Camp out slugged PC Consultants 24-20.
Armand Kurth, Jamie McVaine and Ron Hughes hit homers for the Jewelers/Day Campers.
Nebrasky Plumbing 23
The Warriors 10
Led by the hitting of Tom Bednarz (home run, triple, double, six RBIs), Bill Butler (4-4 including a home run) and Greg Palmieri (four hits), Nebrasky Plumbing defeated the Warriors 23-10.
Jesters Comedy Club 16
Tom’s Plumbing 10
Jesters Comedy Club climbed back up to the .500 mark by defeating Tom’s Plumbing 16-10.
It was a back-and-forth battle to the end with the Comedians scoring six runs in the seventh inning highlighted by Mike (Hammer) Hannon’s two-run home run to solidify the win.
The key, however, was the defense with Tom Strauss reaching over the fence to take the go-ahead home run away from the Plumbers in the bottom of the sixth.
Next up for the Maroon and Black will be the always feisty Brazen Head squad.
