Monroe Village roads under repair
MONROE — Some village streets are getting a full make-over for the next two to three weeks.
During this time, Village Highway Superintendent Brian Smith said, crews will be re-constructing the following roads:
Highland Avenue
Park Avenue
Forest Avenue
Brooks Avenue
Charleton Place
Smith described the construction as a full depth re-construction.
The steps include a grinding process, re-shaping and sloping of the road, then repaving with asphalt binder.
One area of Forest Avenue, near the North Main Street School and ball park, Smith said, will also be widened and new drainage pipes installed.
The Mill Ponds
On July 2, the Mill Ponds will be treated with copper sulfate to control the algae. Smith said the company Allied Biological treats the ponds every 30 to 45 days between May and September.
The highway crews also use a Weed Harvester machine to control the weed infestation in the ponds.
