    William A. LaForge, a lifelong resident of the area, passed away Thursday, Feb. 2, 2017, at his home in Monroe. He was 85 years old.
    The son of Alonzo and Bessie M. Beatty LaForge, he was born Dec. 8, 1931, in Monroe.
    Bill was a builder for his own company, William LaForge Construction, out of Monroe. He also was a foreman with Kent Companies and Reiger Homes.
    He was a former member of the Monroe Masonic Lodge.
    Survivors include his wife Mildred LaForge at home; his stepson Jay Klahn and his wife Nancy of Harriman; his stepdaughter Sherrie Roland of Fredericksburg, Va.; his four grandchildren: Lauren, Nicole, Haleigh and Madison.
    Bill was predeceased by his first wife Audrey Alexander LaForge and his daughter Michelle LaForge.
    Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 10, at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple Ave., Monroe.
    A Chapel Service will be held in the funeral home Friday evening at 6:45 p.m.
    Cremation too place at Cedar Hill Crematory in Middle Hope.
    In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
